We held a Mini Concert & Trial Lesson Event at Shinjuku Music Academy, featuring the violin, Baroque violin, viola, and piano.
We were delighted to welcome the largest number of participants we have ever had. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon such a warm and enjoyable occasion.

I had the pleasure of performing alongside two wonderful violinists. Throughout the concert, I switched between the violin, viola, and piano, taking part in a variety of musical performances.
We opened the concert with a Telemann Violin Duo, performed with Motoko-sensei, who organizes the Telemann Concert Series. We were then joined by Taeko-sensei for a performance of Pachelbel’s Canon arranged for three violins.
Next, I accompanied Gossec’s Gavotte on the piano. Motoko-sensei’s expressive Baroque violin playing, with its elegant ornamentation and improvisatory style, was truly inspiring.
In the second half of the program, we explored the folk music roots of the violin with Bartók’s Ruthenian Kolomejka, an energetic piece that makes you want to tap your feet to its lively rhythms.
Motoko-sensei and Taeko-sensei then delighted the audience with a beautiful violin duo featuring the beloved “Cat’s March” (the famous piano tune many children learn first), followed by two wonderful melodies from Studio Ghibli films: A Town with an Ocean View and Stroll (Sanpo).
To conclude the concert, we performed the first two movements from Dvořák’s Four Miniatures for two violins and viola. I performed the viola part, and it was a special pleasure to share the warm, rich sound of this beautiful work. Dvořák had a deep appreciation for the viola, and I performed with great enthusiasm to bring out the instrument’s unique character.
After the performances, many audience members shared their impressions. One child remarked with amazement, “I didn’t know the violin could sound so powerful!” It was wonderful to see young listeners experience the excitement of live music.
Following the concert, we also held violin and piano trial lessons.
Many participants tried the violin for the first time, and it was a joy to see so many smiling faces discovering the excitement of making music.
We hope this event inspired everyone to experience the beauty of live performances and perhaps begin their own musical journey.
