Violin Section Rehearsal – Mozart Divertimento No.3

Last weekend, we held a 1st violin and 2nd violin section rehearsal for Mozart’s Divertimento No.3.

In ensemble playing, section rehearsals are an important step before full ensemble rehearsals. By practicing within each section, players can listen more carefully to each other and focus on balance, rhythm, and phrasing.

During a full rehearsal, many different musical lines are heard at once, which can sometimes make it difficult to focus on one’s own part. Section rehearsals, however, allow players to build a stronger sense of unity and ensemble awareness within their section.

During this session, the 1st violins completed the first reading of all three movements, while the 2nd violins focused on the first movement, working carefully on rhythm and articulation.

Through these rehearsals, students develop the ability to listen to one another and play together as a group.

We are looking forward to bringing all the sections together at the next full ensemble rehearsal🎵
